The topics that will be discussed are: accessibility of data from a variety of electronic storage types, native and non-native restoration and how a given approach can be more cost effective than another. Topic:  Requests have come in for a demonstration on the Maresware program "upcopy" which is a sophisticated e-discovery copy program. UPCOPY copies files while maintaining all three file times, and performs md5 hashes of the operation. If time permits, the disk cataloging program will also be demonstrated with its unique ability to set up file types in categories that attornies understand.

Stephen V. Arehart was born and raised in Jacksonville, Fl. He obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan in 1996, and an M.S. in Polymer Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999. He is a practicing software engineer with experience in biotechnology, cellular communications, cellular network fraud detection systems, and embedded systems. He is currently an independent software consultant working in the greater Atlanta area.

Adam Shostack made a presentation on Reducing Crime in Cyberspace: A Privacy Industry View. Adam Shostack is a technologist, startup veteran and regular public speaker. He has published papers on the security, privacy, as well as economics, copyright and trust. His current startup is in stealth mode. Prior to joining, Adam founded and built Nmotion and Informed Security, two patch management technology companies.

Tapes contain a tremendous amount of information and should be a part of any forensic investigation. They come in hundreds of formats needing special software or hardware to recover information. This lecture will present various means and methods to reteive data from tapes.

General discussions were held regarding dates and times of future meetings. A consensus was that the meetings would be held on the 2nd Monday of each month. Because of room availability, the time would generally be about 09:30 at Kennesaw university. Dates and times would be adjusted depending on the specific speakers availability.

Topics for future lectures were discussed. With cell phone forensics a major concern. Other topics were blackberry forensics, registry forensics, network security, identity theft, and RAID and tape handling forensics. If you have additional suggestions please contact the president with your suggestions.

Topic:  Mount Image Pro & RecoverMyFiles are two very useuful programs for not only forensic examiners but also for others interested in working with image files and wanting to recover files from media. The focus of this presentation will be on Mount Image Pro and how it can be utilized to mount EnCase, SMART, and dd image files for review and analysis in a safe, read only manner. These programs are developed by CrocWare Pty Ltd from Down Under Australia.
Note: Crocware has generously offered up a licensed copy of both Mount Image Pro and RecoverMyFiles to one lucky winner. All those in attendance will be able to put their name in a hat and the winner will be drawn at the end of the meeting. Good luck!
